Citrix Systems has announced the availability of their free of charge Citrix Dazzle for Windows and Mac, along with new versions of Citrix Receiver for Windows, Mac, iPhone, BlackBerry and Android devices.

Together, Dazzle and Receiver work with Citrix XenDesktop to power self-service IT for a wide range of virtual desktops, giving end users on-demand access to their corporate desktops and applications from any device in any location.

The company says that the increased availability of both products comes in direct response to end-user demand for greater flexibility and self service from their corporate IT departments and extends self-service virtual desktops to millions of endpoint devices in all form factors.

As the first self-service 'storefront' for enterprise applications, Citrix Dazzle allows corporate end users to pick and choose applications 24/7, when then need them without talking to IT.

The company says that Citrix Receiver makes accessing virtual desktops and applications on any device as easy as “turning on your TV.”

Citrix customers include the world’s largest internet companies, 99% of Fortune Global 500 enterprises, and hundreds of thousands of small businesses and prosumers worldwide, with annual revenue of $1.6bn.

“2010 is predicted to be the breakout year for desktop virtualisation, driven by demand from both the end user and IT, coupled with the highly-anticipated arrival of Windows 7,” according to the company.

XenDestkop 4 with its new FlexCast delivery technology makes virtual desktops a practical reality for every type of employee – from task workers and office workers, to power users and mobile employees.

It enables customers to deliver any type of virtual desktop, to any user, on any device – and to change this mix at any time.

Citrix Dazzle and Citrix Receiver are free of charge to any Citrix XenDesktop or Citrix XenApp customer.
